Throggs Neck, NY – During a Saturday matinee game of women’s basketball, the Dolphins of Mount Saint Vincent cruised to a 94-27 victory over Maritime College to pick up their second Skyline Conference win of the year. The Dolphins finished the game with six girls in double digits and two scoring career highs.

The Privateers were the first to strike as they had an early 4-2 lead. However, the Dolphin defense became overwhelming for Maritime as they were held to just ten points in the first half. Maritime shot the ball a lot better in the second half, but just did not have any opportunities to catch up in this one. Turnovers once again plagued the Privateers as Mount Saint Vincent scored 46 points off of 39 turnovers.

The Privateer backcourt came up big with both senior Kerri Herrmann (Central Islip, NY/St. Anthony's) (Central Islip, NY/St. Anthony’s) and sophomore Kristen Johnston (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa Acad.) (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) scoring nine points after playing a majority of the game. Freshman forward Marissa Webber-Bey (Far Rockaway, NY/Fashion) added 12 rebounds now bringing her season average up to 8.7 boards a game.

Junior guard Laura Bucci (Irvington, NY/Our Lady of Victory) led the way for the Dolphins with 15 points and eight assists. Freshman guard Kaitlin Burud (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook) scored a career high of 14 points while another freshman guard Erin Saunders (Yonkers, NY/Cardinal Spellman) had her career high of 13 points and shot 50% from downtown.

Maritime is back in action on Monday when the Cadets of Norwich College come to town for a 5pm game in the fist half of a men’s and women’s double header. In the second game of the night, the Men’s team will be taking on Baruch College at 7pm.
